Kate McIntosh: In Many Hands

17th May 2019 | 18:00 - 20:30

With “In Many Hands” the Belgian theatre artist Kate McIntosh invites her audience to test, touch, listen, search, sniff. The project gathers the audience on stage to experience together a surprising, multifaceted collection of objects in a sensual way. Everything that is normally forbidden in the theatre: here it is part of the staging. The hands get dirty, the seats change, and the conversation with the neighbours is welcome. “In Many Hands” is theatre from its most intense side: poetic, dramatic, curious. Kate McIntosh has already performed this unusual play at numerous theatre festivals throughout Europe.

Kate McIntosh (1974)is a Brussels-based artist who practices across the boundaries of performance, theatre, video and installation.

Her works often focus on the physicality of both performer and audience, the manipulation of objects and materials, and the development of direct relations with and between audience members. Kate’s practice is guided by her ongoing fascinations with the misuse of objects, playfulness with the public, a love of theatrical images and an off-beat humour.
