Participate! Best Practice: MIRROR MARCH

The performance with 24 man-high mirrors, 4 flag masks carriers and a musical composition for the March-Chimes, processes historical patterns of military movement, marching bands, demonstrations, group movements and political gatherings into a sculptural movement through the public space.

„With props that quote traditional signs of military power – flags, signs and the associated interpretations of uniformity – Svea Duwe reacts in her sculptural movement to the increase in language that propagates violence and to the experience of an openly displayed advocacy of misanthropy and exclusion in Dresden. The transformation of an essential statement of the peaceful revolution of 1989 “Wir sind das Volk”(we are the people) into a formula of exclusion was one of the central triggers of the performance: Which ‘Wir'(we) is meant? And who does this new ‘Wir'(we) exclude?“

The Spiegelmarsch took place three times in the very center of Dresden in 2017. You are invited to create together with Svea Duwe a Spiegelmarsch around the Zentralwerk at TEH-Conference. Experience carrying mirrors or swinging flag masks and being part of a sculptural movement that raises questions.
